I bought a Cintiq tablet a while ago and it's awesome! But the color doesn't always match with my macbook pro screen. I tried calibrating it differently but nothing works. It makes coloring very annoying. Here's a pic drawn completely in photoshop. I miss opencanvas T_T

Hm... I am taking a class called Introduction to Entrepreneurship for Technical majors. It's a pretty useless class... Complete bs. It's also every Monday night from 6:30 to 9:30. We don't do anything in the class other than group presentations. Usually I just sit there and download/play around with iPhone apps. So last night I found a livejournal app, which I am using now to post this entry. But I have a basic account so I can't use scrapbook for images. Might switch to a plus account or something... But yeah... Just trying out the app =) remember to vote everyone!

I've been playing FFVII recently. I found a patch to fix the chocobo racing bug which made me unable to play chocobo races and meant I was stuck in the Golden Saucer T__T Other than that I kind of just sit here and yeah... well erm... here's a picture of Aeris that I drew while watching Firefly O__O

I was updating the webpage today since I haven't... and stuff... It's hosted on the andrew webservers but they were being slow updating so I decided to switch servers. Hm...

I'm going to be doing the 100 Themes art challenge... just because I feel like it... and it will make me draw more ^^;

Here is the first theme:
001. Introduction

This is kind of random... but I needed a starting point. It's not really a self-portrait, more of a self-representation since there's no way any human would look like an anime styled character that I draw. And of couse I dont have a wing...

I'm pretty much going to be using this challenge as an excuse to post and draw rough sketches. Though of course... it's really hard for me to sketch roughly... but I just don't plan on refining them. Hopefully I'll be drawing and posting more often because of this =) I actually don't like to post on lj unless I have a picture or something to go with it ^^;

I felt like changing the layout... ^^; I didn't make it though, there's a list of credits on the sidebar.

Art:

Started this last winter, was going to give it to Chris but did't finish due to issues with anatamy. I pretty much got sick of working on it and decided I need to update something so here it is. I didn't really see how off the moon was until I scanned it... and I can't explain the background either... it's just kind of random, incomplete, and there.

Video Games:
I actually left my DS in NJ. I was pretty sad when I realized, but it's okay because I've been playing "Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions" on my PSP. I wanted to play it because I heard it has a good story... so far it's very... intense. I haven't played tactics games in a while, they are fun but erm... repetitive. I over level in them too. Crisis Core is coming out tomorrow! It's the reason I got a PSP in the first place... but I'm probably not going to get it until I finish FFT.

I'm on spring break... I guess it's nice to be back and not working... but... I seem to have the worst luck with everything.

Instruments
I found out today that my flute broke... it was fine last Monday (Kiltie band concert). One of the pads is missing... I mean pads themselves are easy to replace but the screw that keeps that pad in place also seems to be gone. I have a Gemeinhardt 2SP. It would be great if anyone can tell me where I can purchase a screw. I'm probably going to bring it to a music store when I go back to Pittsburgh... but I'll probably ask Mr. Gerlach if he can do anything about it first... I'm pretty sure the kiltie band has extra instruments that people can borrow. I mean worst case... I may have to purchase a new flute... but if I do that... I may just buy/learn a new instrument all together. I don't really think my flute is all that broken except for the pads that desperately need to be changed. A Gemeinhardt 2SP costs about $100+ these days... so that's not bad but I may opt for a really cheap asia made flute which of course... probably won't be a very good quality. If I'm going to get a new decent flute... I'd prefer an open holed one because I think they sound a lot nicer. Of course my Gemeinhardt has been with me for a long time and it's great but I really like playing the open hole ones.

I kind of decided that I want a new guitar for my birthday... I've been playing/learning on my friend's acoustic for a while until I broke a string and of course... Montgomery doesnt have that many music stores and I keep on forgetting to buy one in Pittsburgh. So I really haven't played in a while but I'd like to. I seem to be on a music rampage these days as far as playing goes. I'm planning on buying an Ibanez GRX20. It costs about $150. I'm not sure what kind of amp I'm going to buy yet. Any recommendations for guitars and amps would be great. As far as guitar requirements go... I'd really like a tremolo because they are fun and humbuckers are great too. Guitar searching meant me spending hours staring at La Jeune Fille... they are so beautiful O__o I was planning on buying those over-priced mana guitar picks in a pretty can but apparently they don't make them any more? It's like a can of 5 picks for $12... but it's from Mana... so... If anyone knows where I can buy that that would be great too =)

Art
I've been on a mission... I want to draw again... but I keep on getting distracted by EVERYTHING... music, anime, videogames. I've taken some steps to make myself become more "active" in the art community or just to "force" myself to draw more.
1. I finally published my website... it's not complete yet. It's completely functional and has most of the things up in the gallery. I kind of want to change the code for the gallery though.. . and the links out list is not complete either. The website address is from a long time ago when I first planned my online gallery. It was meant to be a project with a friend. Claire, if you are reading this, I hope you don't mind me reusing the domain name.

Making another gallery made me realize that I pretty much only finished 2 pictures within the last 3 years... pitiful...
2. I joined Ochiba. It's yet another art community. I think I used to be in ochiba a really long time ago. They have a good art community and a wonderful oekaki board as well. I pretty much joined because I want to oekaki again... the good old days of oekaki circle ^^;
3. When I first took the name "Morana-sama", it was a comeback from another decently long art hiatus. One of the things that really helped was GaiaOnline. I used to draw for art contests because I had no way to make gold. The abundance of art contests on gaia was great for my art block. I'm planning to go back to gaia and do lots of art contests <3

Games
I got a R4DS for my NDS a while ago. It's awesome. I do feel kind of bad for not supporting the gaming industry... but now I can try out so many games without doing research on them to guess whether I will like them or not. One of the most awesome things avaliable on the R4DS is Colors. I first saw Colors in an ImagineFX magazine that I was reading at the bookstore (I want to get a subscription... but it's more expensive than NewType!). Colors is pretty much an oekaki program for the DS. It's such an awesome idea. But I'm having some trouble with it... since the way I draw is very line dependent and lineart and coloring are such seperate things for me... it's really hard for me to work on one layer. But colors is a great program non-the-less. I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes art and has a flash card for his/her DS. I really like the interface for Colors, it's simple and intuitive. It even has pressure sensitivity!

I have a tendency to play a lot of games "at once". Or more like I'm playing one game, gets "stuck" or start another game at the same time. Some games that I'm currently "playing" are: Zelda: Twilight Princess, Drawn to Life, Castlevania: Dawn of sorrow, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy III, Kingdom Hearts I, Final Fantasy XII... this list is pretty long... I'm probably going to work on FFXII over spring break so that I can play the DS sequel. But there's a problem with my PS2 memory card. When I bought my PS2, we couldn't find a memory card anywhere, so I ended up buying a "Memory Manager Plus". It's pretty much one memory card with twice the amount of memory as a normal PS2 memory card... catch is... it needs a boot cd. When I brought my memory card back to CMU after winter break, my roommate's PS2 refused to read the boot cd. So now I'm kind of worried since there's so many files on there that I need... all those hours... argh... I'm hoping it will work if I try it on my ps2 (since it was fine all winter break). I have my boyfriend's ps2 memory card too so I'm going to copy the files onto his before I buy my own "normal" ps2 memory card...

Life
I still need to get my driver's license... my permit expired which means I have to do the whole process again... starting from the test... argh! I'll be taking the written test this thursday...

This is probably my longest journal entry ever. Sorry for taking up so much space on everyone's firendlist... I guess I just feel like writing today ^^;

Eh summer break is too long. It's nice to be back and all... but there's only so much that I can stand of being home. It doesn't help that I can't drive either... and then there are the asian parents O__o Well one more week then I get to go back to Pittsburgh =)

I've been really out of lately... I haven't been doing much lately... physics is pretty much preventing me from going to SCA instrumental and fencing... I hate physics... why did I ever take this class... Well... hope everyone is well. I got a tablet for christmas and it is very very sexy. I did in fact doodle something with it as soon as i got it but now I can't seem to find much time for anything other than school work. Well there is the lineart that I made:

It's great to be back. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing to be here for a month. I really don't have any plans for winter break other than a huge line of video games I should finish... So far I've just sat in my bed and played FFV all day long. Sometimes I get bored and go play ddr or visit people. I forgot how empty my house could seem... especially when no one is ever here except for me.

okay... my ipod died a while ago... actually... right before I went to college... I lived off my cd player for a while. But it's really old, skips, and has tons of other problems. So I'm really considering getting a new mp3 player... I need one with a lot of memory... which means ipods. But... since my ipod died... I would rather get something that isn't an ipod. So is there any other mp3 that has at least 20G? T___T *going insane*

They are filming a movie called "Smart People" on campus... Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker are in it... Which is why I now know who they are =) There's this sign near Baker Hall that says that if you pass this point, you give up your rights to your image xD It's kind of annoying when a crowd gathers because they are looking for extras, especially when you are trying to get to class. Well at least at some point in the near future... people will know of the existance of Carnegie Mellon xD It's kind of sad that I'm only 10 hours into FFXII... stupid homework and sleep!!!!

Sara and I went on a hunt for recorders today. There's a store on 5th Ave. that sells it... unfortunately we got on the wrong bus and it took us 3.5 hours to finally find the store... it was supposedly in a really bad neighborhood. The lady on the bus keep on warning us and telling us how bad the place is. I was actually expecting to get back for my first CSW class but of course I missed it. But it's not like I need that class anyway ^^;; We got blue Yamaha recorders... She named hers pomegranate and I named mine Squee. It's actually not that easy to play the recorder... I can never get the lower notes to sound right ^^;; then there's the whole partially covered hole stuff... Now I have to go and BS a psych paper... woot what fun -____-

Essays are evil... I have to write way too many of them. Then there's Interp... horrible class... especially with Datta. We got our first paper back today. The one about the really dead guy who talks about good vs. evil. Apparently he really liked my essay -___- even though I completely gave up on it in the middle of the night because I was so upset from him telling me to rewrite it...

Sara and I went to Agincourt yesturday... it was kind of muddy but not too bad. We got loaner garb as well as cloaks! The cloaks were really warm... I was too short so I had this little one that made me look like the little red riding hood... Cardono gave me a stick... so I was walking around with it and looking rather mage like. We weren't authorized in fighting so we couldn't fight but we did do archery. Sara won the archery tournament and almost got some sort of alcoholic drink. She was also using a crossbow ^^;; We shot stuffed animals... and barney =)

So I started working at the Children's School yesturday. They needed people on Tuesday and Thursday mornings which is great for me since my first class on Tuesdays and Thursdays is at 1:30. I thought it would be something like Kumon or at least Kumon's little room... but OMG... there are certain... phrases that we are supposed to say to the children... such as "be a good friend", "use your voice", and "use walking feet". The friend part is extremely creepy especially to someone like me who reads and loves 20th Century Boys... yes the Friend cult... Pretty much we call everyone friends, tell them to be friends... and such... we also help them with washing their hands and putting on their jackets. I'm with the three year olds. They are... an interesting bunch. We also sing to them... and I'm expected to do the hand motion too... haha... yeah... me doing handmotions... to children's songs... /swt... well I do need a job so I guess I'll stick with this at least for this semester... next semester I'm going to try to get a job at the library or bookstore or something...

Staying up till 3 to do homework is definitely not healty... and wtf is with Interpretation and Argument? I really can't stand that class but it's a bit late to drop... not to mention it's also mandatory. I mean... I love English and all... in fact it's like one of my favorite subjects...but this... writing an essay on our interpretation of someone else's interpretation of Shakespearean tragedies?? WTF... and I dont really quite understand what the guy's trying to say anyway.... argh...

and you know what... it's really kind of creepy... to go through this thing 3 times and finally realize that what this really dead guy is trying to say is the same as the diru pv [kr]cube =___=

argh... I'm sick... have too much homework... and Pittsburgh weather sucks!

Accomplishments in the last week or so:
-shot people with a crossbow
-successfully located kendo people
-was dragged to fencing practice
-set a day for ddr
-lost the role playing club (apparently they are LARPers -__-)
-showed up for SCA fighting practice
-didn't die
